Bridge Play Code of Conduct

The Bridge Play Foundation (“Bridge Play”) is committed to fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants, including players, volunteers, parents, umpires, spectators, and staff. By participating in any Bridge Play program or event, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct.

 

General Principles

 

Respect and Inclusion:

  • Treat all individuals with respect, dignity, and fairness, regardless of their race, gender, religion, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or abilities.

  • Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, or bullying.

 

Sportsmanship and Integrity:

  • Display good sportsmanship at all times, both on and off the field.

  • Compete fairly and adhere to the rules and spirit of the game.

 

Safety and Well-being:

  • Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of all participants.

  • Report any unsafe conditions, behaviors, or incidents to Bridge Play staff immediately.

Responsibility and Accountability:

  • Act responsibly and set a positive example for others.

  • Take responsibility for your actions and their impact on the community.

 

Expectations for Specific Roles

 

Participants (Players):

  • Follow all game rules, instructions from officials, and guidelines provided by Bridge Play.

  • Respect teammates, opponents, and officials.

  • Strive to do your best and support your peers.

 

Parents and Spectators:

  • Encourage players with positive reinforcement and constructive feedback. Avoid engaging in negative or disruptive behavior, including heckling, arguing with officials, or criticizing players.

  • Respect the decisions of officials and the efforts of volunteers.

 

Volunteers and Umpires:

  • Carry out your duties to the best of your ability and in accordance with Bridge Play policies. Treat all participants fairly and impartially. Report any concerns or violations of the Code of Conduct promptly.

Staff and Coaches:

  • Provide leadership and guidance that fosters growth, learning, and a love for the game.

  • Ensure all players are given equal opportunities to participate and develop.

  • Model exemplary behavior and enforce this Code of Conduct consistently.

 

Prohibited Conduct

  • Physical or verbal abuse, intimidation, or threats of any kind.

  • Use of offensive, discriminatory, or derogatory language.

  • Possession, use, or influence of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco at Bridge Play events or programs.

  • Cheating, dishonest behavior, or manipulation of the rules.

  • Vandalism, theft, or intentional damage to property.

 

Consequences of Violations

Bridge Play Foundation reserves the right to address violations of this Code of Conduct based on the severity of the behavior. Consequences may include, but are not limited to:

  • Verbal or written warnings.

  • Temporary or permanent suspension from participation in Bridge Play programs or events. Notification to law enforcement or other authorities, if applicable.

  • Other corrective actions as deemed appropriate by Bridge Play staff.

 

Reporting Concerns

If you witness or experience any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately to Bridge Play staff or volunteers. Reports can also be submitted confidentially via email at bridgeplayfoundation@gmail.com. All reports will be taken seriously and handled promptly and discreetly.
