2025 Rule Updates for All Softball Categories
To ensure the longevity of our league and maintain a positive relationship with the Parks Department, we are implementing new rules for 2025. With rising permit fees, it’s more important than ever to protect our ability to provide recreational opportunities for everyone.
The NYC Parks Department is cracking down on permit holders to ensure they are adhering to the rules. Therefore, we must all do our part to follow these guidelines and preserve the league we all enjoy.
Bridge Play Foundation Inc., as a nonprofit, is dedicated to fostering equitable access to sports in our community. To continue this mission, we need your support and cooperation in following these updates. Our board will actively ensure all participants comply to keep our league thriving for years to come.
These rules apply to everyone involved in the league, including managers, players, umpires, the league commissioner, staff, and spectators.
New Rules for 2025:
Uniform Policy: All players must wear jerseys or t-shirts, baseball/softball pants, and hats or visors to participate. Teams are encouraged to coordinate their uniforms to promote unity and a professional appearance.
Consequence for Violation: Players not in proper uniform will start their first at-bat with two strikes. Continued non-compliance may result in further penalties.
Smoking Ban: Smoking is strictly prohibited on the field, in dugouts, and anywhere near the field vicinity.
Consequence for Violation:
First Violation: Immediate suspension for the remainder of the game.
Second Violation: Ejection from the league for the remainder of the season.
Alcohol Prohibition: No drinking is allowed on the field, in dugouts, or anywhere near the field vicinity.
Consequence for Violation:
First Violation: Immediate suspension for the remainder of the game.
Second Violation: Ejection from the league for the remainder of the season.
Weapons Policy: Absolutely no weapons of any kind are permitted on the field, in dugouts, or anywhere near the field vicinity. This includes showing, brandishing, or making any form of threat involving a weapon.
Consequence for Violation:
Immediate and Permanent Consequence: Automatic and permanent ejection from the league.
Payment Deadlines: A deposit is required at the time of registration, with the remaining balance due the day before Opening Day for your category.
New Incentive: There will be a prize for the best-dressed team with the most coordinated uniforms. Show off your team spirit and style while keeping our league looking its best!
