Bridge Play Women’s Softball League: Fall Season

For years, women across the Bronx have asked for a weeknight softball league — and this fall, it finally happened. Friday nights are now officially Ladies Night, and the response has been nothing short of incredible.

We’re proud to introduce the Bridge Play Women’s Softball League (B.P.W.S.L.), a bold new chapter for women’s softball in our community. This league has quickly turned into a wild phenomenon — not just because it’s women stepping up to the plate, but because it’s a Draft-Style League unlike anything the Bronx has seen before.

A Community Years in the Making

We stand on the shoulders of the Bronx’s long-standing leagues like EMS, Liga Femenina, and ADW Sports, which have kept women’s softball alive and strong for years. Many of our players still proudly compete in those weekend leagues, while others have traveled from Brooklyn, Connecticut, and beyond to join us on Friday nights. Some women are returning to the field after years away, dusting off their gloves and rediscovering their love for the game. The mix of veteran players and brand-new faces has created a league that’s as diverse as it is competitive.

Draft Day Drama

What started as just three teams and about 40 women quickly exploded into four teams and 64 players — plus a waiting list — within just one week. The draft was nothing short of unforgettable. Every player was placed into categories by skill and position, then selected at random. The looks on the ladies’ faces as they waited to hear which team they’d land on were priceless: nerves, laughter, and pure excitement filled the room. And in a fun twist, even the managers were drafted into the mix!

Now, best friends find themselves on opposite sides of the field, while brand-new teammates are learning to build chemistry from scratch. It’s a true test of sportsmanship this fall, and our women athletes are showing heart, grit, and an undeniable love for the game.

Fast-Pitch Fridays

This isn’t your ordinary league. In the BPWSL, there’s no pitching speed limit. It’s straight modified — no windmill, no sling — but everything else goes. That means pitchers are bringing the heat, batters are being tested, and fans are in for some thrilling Friday night softball.

Looking the Part, Playing the Part

And the best part? The ladies will soon be taking the field in full uniforms. As we always say: when you look great, you play great! Seeing our players step out in matching gear, ready to represent their teams with pride, will be the moment that truly seals this league’s place in the Bronx softball story.

Four Teams, One League

The excitement is real, and the competition is fierce. This fall, the Athenas, Forza, Nemeses, and Sirens will battle it out under the Friday night lights. Each team has its own personality, its own leaders, and its own growing fanbase — and the rivalries are already starting to form.
